We submitted our plans for the Old School to Cornwall Council for approval in August 2011. As I write this in mid December, the Planners are still fooling around trying to decide what to do and not surprisingly we've lost faith with the whole system.

The planners seem to have no understanding of the fact that their actions have consequences. They love to stop progress, because nothing happening means no one gets blamed for it - apparently. In this case their hopeless delay and lack of communication has the consequence that we've decided to abandon the project and sell the school.

May the next owner succeed where we tried. The school is for sale at a guide of £225k - contact Fulfords land and planning in Exeter.

A Picasa page of jpegs of the plans is here and includes all the proposed drawings. It also has two drawings of the alternative garage layout though the building proposals are the same for either planning application.

Here's a long photo of the School:

and our drawing of the proposed front elevation, not much changed but lowered window cills and a few necessary rooflights for the first floor:

and a layout of the proposed swimming pool (23m long!) under the playground / front terrace (the grand design option):

the alternative design just has a double garage under the playground - adequate and cheaper to build.
